French singer-songwriter Lou Berry has returned, alongside soul artist Eylia, with the fantastic new track ‘Mary’s Lies’. Built around bright jazz chords and luscious vocal harmonies, the tune demonstrates Berry’s grasp over powerful, modern-day soul and makes it clear why he has spent the last few years performing alongside the likes of De La Soul and Jamiroquai. He explains that the track is “bout addiction. It tells the story of a man who smokes weed to join an ex-lover in a delusional world created by vapour trails and hallucinations. Mary is a memory of love etched in the brain of a man who made wrong decisions in the past, and can’t stand his reality anymore”.
